Welcome to late summer/fall at Blue Tide Foundation Allow me a BRAVO to all new students!! Whether high school, college or university, your education is something you will have forever and no one can ever take that from you. It's been a long summer in Newport, getting everything lined up for the home stretch to the end of this year. Some fun announcements are down the road -- check back often or join us on Twitter at @bluetide501c3! We love social media - and have met the most interesting people --those who want to help children have a better future. We are seeing some well known individuals helping to bring attention to child trafficking as well. THANK YOU!
Planning has begun for 2012 including our multi-decade commitment to South Africa. Our purpose is to begin improving conditions at schools throughout South Africa. We've selected our first three schools and our improvements will begin with the basics i.e. desks, paper, pencils. Once we've worked with a school, we will maintain an ongoing relationship while, on subsequent annual visits, continue to find other schools in need of help. Our ‘Volunteer Ambassador’ program provides part of our our annual funding, including expenses & costs for all travel. Donated airline miles in the form of a ticket help defray costs. Please contact Holly @ Blue Tide Foundation to help us reach South Africa (late Jan 2012). Other month's available for the Volunteer Ambassador program are February, March, July and August. We suggest Nepal, New Orleans or other locations. Other events include: The Great Walkabout is now Newport's Big Give! This event is designed to harness the generosity of all of Newport Beach to benefit three+ charities, two in the OC and one internationally. Sponsorships will be available at a future date, both locally and nationally. Due to the enormity of this event it is still in the planning stages. Our annual Cambodia visit – we strive to go in November This working trip allows us to see first hand the progress made in lifting kids from a lifetime of poverty through education while keeping kids and young children safe from being trafficked into sex or debt slavery. It should be a busy season, whatever the month! Holly Love CEO Blue Tide Foundation P.S. If your in the O.C. over the summer, please see the butterfly release ritual at the St. Regis Monarch Beach . Usually held on Saturday nights with champagne for the adults and juice for the kids. Afterwards, hot chocolate, s’mores and a story by the fire. All free except for a five dollar parking fee. It was a joyful event last year, one that I hope to attend regularly! Our wish list remains steady: Use your Frequent Flyer miles to provide tickets for South Africa. An international flight flight requires 65,000 miles while a US flight requires 35,000 miles. These miles are incredibly useful in controlling travel costs. Once we arrive, we continue to keep our costs low through assistance from our local underwriters and donors. eBay sellers: You may choose Blue Tide Foundation to receive 1-10% from your sales! |
